After 55 Yrs, Switzerland Reopens Consulate Office In Lagos. Fifty-five years after it shut its consulate-general office in Nigeria, the Swiss government inaugurated a new office in Lagos late Tuesday. Declaring the office open, Didier Burkhalter, Switzerland’s federal counselor, and head of foreign affairs, said the Nigerian office is the second in Sub-Saharan Africa. “The opening of this second consulate-general of Switzerland in Sub-Saharan Africa, after Cape Town, marks a very special day for us,” he said. “Switzerland is officially returning to the place where its long-standing friendship with Nigeria started 55 years ago: the exciting city of Lagos! “Ever since the opening of our embassy, Nigeria has been at the heart of our foreign policy on Africa.” He said Nigeria has not lost her importance in his country’s foreign policy. South African Gay Singer Dies Of Anal Cancer Abuja – 36-year-old gay South African singer, Koyo Bala, who is HIV positive has died at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, after battling with anal cancer for two years. Koyo Bala was part of a pop gay group known as 3-Sum made up of Bala‚ Amstel Maboa and the late Jeff Moyo, who were popularly known in the South African entertainment industry as gay rights activists. In a report obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria, Koyo Bala had disclosed publicly that he was HIV positive in 2011. It was also disclosed that he was, earlier in 2014, diagnosed of anal cancer which he lived with for two years before it now claimed his life. Boko Haram: The Cameroonian army intercepted a French helicopter delivering weapons to Boko Haram

The website Afrique News Info issued a scarcely credible information, the Cameroonian army might have  intercepted a French helicopter at the North of the country providing arms, ammunition and money to the terrorist group affiliated with Daech. Citing as source a Cameroonian politician Banda Kani, national president of the New People’s Movement (NPM). “You also know that there are two French terrorists who were arrested at the Briqueterie with explosives. NNPC DIVIDED INTO 7 OPERATING UNITS

President Buhari Has Done The "Impossible." . Buhari has unbundled the NNPC into 7 operating units. They're the Upstream unit; Downstream unit; Refinery unit; Gas/Power unit; Ventures; Finance & Accounting; and Executive Head, Corporate Planning and Services. . Bello Rabiu is CEO of Upstream Company; Henry Ikem-Onih for Downstream; Anibor Kragha for Refineries; Saidu Mohammed for Gas and Power Plant; Babatunde Adeniran for Ventures; Isiaka Abdulrasaq for Finance & Accounting; and Isa Inuwa for Executive Head, Corporate Planning and Services. All appointments take immediate effect. . Ibeh Kachikwu said there would be no job loss as a result of the unbundling. . Meanwhile, oil workers under the aegis of Pengassan and Nupeng said they were not consulted before the decision to unbundle NNPC was taken, hence it is unacceptable to them. They have therefore embarked on an industrial action that is bound to hamper power and fuel supply across the country. .
